It's Just Me
by BJ Brown
(New Milford, CT)
It’s just me
drenched by the rain
sought by the shine
cause my soul left the sun
tilling the earth for passion fruit
molded in an infinite sum
It’s just me
reliving past mistakes
even mistakes not my own
seeking for painless answers
hoping for effortless miracles
caught in life’s finite song
It’s just me
poised to trip fantastic
adored by the softest shine
while bathing disbelief’s hope for we
crafting my own historic path
dodging my fear of failure
It’s just me
stuck on stupid
juggling life’s priorities
while leaving it all behind
tumbling higher in unseen favor
cause little eyes can’t see me fall
It’s just me
realizing I’m not alone
seeing them, seeing you
seeking them, wanting you
loving them, needing you
pondering what to do…

Hello all,
I recently went through a divorce AND an affair back in 2006-2007 (oddly enough I was the one that wanted the divorce).
The experience was draining and revealing at the same time as I'm sure some of you would imagine.
The whole experience actually pushed me to write a poetry book based on the entire experience called DIARY OF AN AFFAIR (by me: BJ "Lyrikal" Brown). It was published by PublishAmerica.com and it is available online at Barnesandnoble.com, Amazon.com, Borders.com, and a number of other online bookstores.
I feel that it is a unique poetry book in that every poem is linked by thoughts, quotes, and narrative that make the entire book flow. Rather than making it a collection of poems it is more of one united piece where the poems tell the emotional story of what I went through rather than explaining details of the experience.
I think it is a great exploration of emotion involved in pre- and post- divorce as well as the dynamics of an affair and how even the affair ended.
Check it out and definitely leave me some feedback as I work on my next poetry book. In the meantime, check out some of my work on:
